When mental health goes untreated in this age group problems can lead to dysfunction at home, decline in school performance and or social issues. Adolescents with mental health issues are at increased risk of school failure, contact with the criminal justice system, drug use/abuse, self-esteem issues, self-harming behaviors, and even suicide.
